Is Hinge free to use and message?
Yes. Hinge says the app is free to use, and free members can form Matches and message them. Free accounts can send only a limited number of Likes per day and view one incoming Like at a time. Hinge+ and HingeX add optional benefits; prices and availability can vary by country and platform.
How many Likes can I send on Hinge per day?
Hinge's current help center describes the free allowance only as a selected or limited number of Likes per day rather than promising one fixed number worldwide. Hinge+ and HingeX include unlimited Likes, although Your Turn Limits can still pause new Likes when too many conversations are waiting for your reply.
Does Hinge have read receipts?
Hinge does not currently show a standard read-receipt indicator for messages. Its official messaging documentation explains how to send and manage conversations but does not offer a read-status control. Last Active is a separate, approximate activity label and does not prove that someone opened a particular message.
What does Last Active mean on Hinge?
Last Active can show Active Now or Active Today beside a profile in Discover, Standouts, or Likes You. Members may hide the status; if you hide yours, you cannot see other members' status. Existing Matches do not see it, and absence of the label may mean it was hidden or the person was not active that day.
Does Hinge verify every profile?
No. Selfie Verification is generally voluntary and uses a video selfie to compare the member with profile photos. Hinge requires a separate biometric Face Check in certain regions. A verified badge can add context but does not guarantee identity, intentions, compatibility, or safety, so use the same precautions with every profile.
Is Hinge safe to use?
Hinge provides reporting, blocking, verification, moderation, and Safe Message Filters, but no dating app can guarantee another person's identity or conduct. Never send money or login codes. Keep personal details private, stay in the app while building trust, meet in a populated public place, and control your own transportation.
What is the difference between Hinge+ and HingeX?
Both Hinge+ and HingeX include unlimited Likes, viewing all incoming Likes together, and Advanced Preferences. HingeX adds Enhanced Recommendations, Skip the Line visibility, and Priority Likes. Features and billing options may change or differ by market, so check the current subscription screen before paying.
Can I pause my Hinge account without deleting it?
Yes. Turn on Pause in account settings to stop your profile from being shown to new people while keeping existing Matches and chats. A Like sent before pausing can still be delivered and accepted. Pausing the profile does not pause or cancel a Hinge+ or HingeX subscription.
How do I delete my Hinge account and cancel my subscription?
Open Hinge account settings, scroll down, choose Delete Account, and follow the confirmation steps; uninstalling the app alone does not delete the account. Subscription cancellation depends on where you paid. Apple and Google Play subscriptions must be canceled with that store, and Hinge advises canceling at least 24 hours before renewal.
